customer facing estimator role will involve understanding client needs and expectations. The review of tender documents and identification of tender deliverables. The selection of suitable supply chain members to inform a competitive base cost and the timely preparation of accurate estimates and cost-plans

Working as part of Construction Division, you will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with Clients and their representatives to develop an understanding of their priorities, needs and expectations
  • Preparation and submission of feasibility cost plans
  • Reviewing tender documents
  • Liaising with, and giving direction to, chosen PQS consultants for BoQ production
  • Compiling enquiry list of suitable supply chain members for each opportunity
  • Issuing robust and comprehensive enquiries to supply chain members
  • Organizing and chairing mid-tender review meetings with supply chain members
  • Arrange and chair internal bid review
  • Compiling accurate and compliant package comparisons from supply chain quotations
  • Proactively seek out, investigate, and price alternatives and value engineering options
  • Collaboratively develop project preliminaries allowances in line with tender requirements and delivery methodologies
  • Production of a comprehensive and transparent project base cost analysis, presentation of base cost during internal tender settlement meetings
  • Preparation and timely submission of tender documents to clients and their representatives
  • Preparation and timely submission of handover documents to the internal delivery team

To be considered for this position, you should be able to demonstrate the following as a minimum:

  • Experience of successfully securing projects in the Warehouse, Healthcare and Defence sectors
  • Experience of successfully securing projects in Northern Ireland and England markets
  • A proven track record of successfully fulfilling a similar role in a main contractor environment for a minimum of 3 years
  • An in-depth knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Extensive experience of single stage and two stage tender processes

Your skills

  • A degree or third level qualification in a construction related discipline
  • Membership of RICS / MCIOB is preferred but not essential
  • You should have a strong technical ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • You will be required to work on multiple tenders concurrently which requires exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • As this role has an element of customer facing involvement, you will be comfortable meeting with clients and their representatives including developing project briefs and requirements, presentation of contract sum analysis, conducting final contract sum negotiations and participating in contractual and legal negotiations.
